Poll: Palin & Media Bias

  1. Following the 2008 election, the Pew Research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism completed a whole report on media coverage of the 2008 election. One of the stats it mentioned was that 4 out of 10 news stories on Sarah Palin had a clearly negative tone. One, it’s interesting to see coverage of Palin put in perspective – this research covered months of coverage, not just a few articles someone chooses to observe at a particular time and then analyze. Two, it’s interesting that it used “positive, negative, and neutral tones” and not “liberal or conservative bias” to assess coverage of candidates. I personally feel better assessing the coverage using those terms.
