Senate Press Corps

Since we’ve talked about the White House press corps and have had some readings on coverage of the branches of government, I thought this piece of news was interesting. It’s not very surprising, but a recent study from the Project for Excellence in Journalism found that today there are more reporters from niche publications than newspapers in the Senate Press Gallery. Reporters aren’t deserting the federal government – they are just coming from different news outlets.

“The next time someone tell yous that the news industry’s financial crisis is hurting coverage of the federal government, point them to this chart.”
