To mark the 35th anniversary of President Richard Nixon’s resignation, PBS is replaying the original 1977 interview between Sir David Frost and President Nixon beginning Aug. 3 in the New York area, the Associated Press has reported. The Frost/Nixon interviews demonstrated how media can play a role in shaping our nation’s politics and recording our nation’s history. Culturally, the interviews served as the basis for a book, the Tony-award winning play, and the 2008 Oscar nominated film. If you saw the movie or play, it might be interesting to see this, in part to point out differences between the original and adapted versions.

Interesting fact: BU journalism professor Bob Zelnick (formerly of ABC News and NPR) served as executive editor of the Frost/Nixon interviews and often played Nixon in the team’s rehearsals. He was portrayed by Oliver Pratt in the 2008 film.
