Two Bids For The Boston Globe

According to this article, two Boston groups have placed bids to buy the Boston Globe from the New York Times.  In class we discussed a variety of alternative ways to fund a newspaper.  One of the bidding groups plans to fund the Globe using what they call of “civic approach” which would involve “a nonprofit foundation to help fund and run the Globe.”  Given the losses already experienced by the Globe, it will be interesting to see how a new owner attempts to get it back on its feet and also to see if the content and bias of the paper change.
