Twitter and Iran

A Nobel Peace Prize for Twitter?

I thought this was just a little ridiculous.

While I think that the whole Iranian election situation with Twitter was kind of incredible, more than anything I think that it just proved that people will use any resource, especially if they believe strongly in their cause.  Twitter is certainly a new and interesting medium, but it doesn’t deserve the credit for a movement just because it provides a platform.

Twitter wasn’t designed with revolution in mind, or helping people living under oppressive regimes.  I don’t think the fact that it is harder to muffle than other social networking sites merits an honor.
